It's true that the Auction House and you will soon be as one...Aww. But seriously, the AH is the easiest and best way for you to make money in game. While you can sell your items to vendors, they'll bring in a huge amount more when you sell them to other players who need them through the Auction House.
You can use the Auction House at any level, and you can start using it as soon as you're picking up items that you don't need and that other players will. Green items and consumables, like eggs, are some of the first you will see. And it's important especially at a low level to start putting these in the Auction House, so you can start building your wealth, bag space, and character.
Once you have mastered the basics of the lower levels, and started making more money, you'll soon start to realize that your items are selling for more, and that some items that you had been selling you can get for dirt cheap. An easy way to make a few gold is buying cheap items in the AH, and selling them for a profit.
Another really easy way to make a lot of gold is buying a selling special recipes and items from Vendors. Weather you're buying Shirts, First Aid Books, or Potions you'll find it very easy to sell certain items.
A very common practice that not many people are away about is buying wholesale products from other players. Not everyone enjoys selling in the Auction House, and you can buy their materials for cheap and relist them in the ah for a profit.
